Welcome to A Mug of Insights! A Newsletter for people who want to keep their love for books alive in the digital age.

Who Are You?

My name is Robin Waldun, and I’m an Honors Literature student specializing in recent literary theory for my dissertation. When I’m not dealing with University bureaucracy, you can usually find me with a stack of books and a cup of coffee lost in one rabbit hole or another.

I started this newsletter as a side project alongside my YouTube channel. What started as a journal of interesting ideas I collected from my research quickly gathered over 11,000 curious readers. This is when I realized there might be something truly amazing about this platform, and I started writing original articles for my readers.

And Now, What Is This Newsletter About?

A Mug of Insights is a Smörgåsbord of ideas that pop into my head during the week. Some of the pieces will cover a philosopher I’ve been reading, while another might be an opinionated perspective on our reading culture.

In regular letters, I’ll share some of the interesting readings & insights from my research and present them in a digestible format for you to read over your coffee.

In my longer pieces, I’ll go down a rabbit hole and tackle questions I’ve been thinking about in relation to life and the culture around us. These pieces usually come with further reading lists cited in MLA 8 (a bit extra I know…), so if you want to do some deep dives, head to the extended essays section.

Paid members will get access to the full archive (posts are automatically archived after 2 months) and all of my extended essays with further reading lists. And on average, subscribers will get 50% more weekly posts from our regularly scheduled program. This will give me more time (alongside grad school research) to produce high-quality posts consistently. Thank you for your contribution!

Notes from loving subscribers:

"I’ve been exceedingly grateful for the state of mind your videos put me in. I graduated a few years ago with an English degree and have been sitting on it since. You’ve reignited my passion for literature and learning and I’m currently applying for my masters. Thank you. I wish you all the luck in your own endeavors and look forward to your future content. "

"I've been following Robin Waldun for about 2 years now. It has helped me reconnect with reading and other aspects of learning I lost over time. I decided to subscribe since I enjoy the writing style of the newsletter and wanted more.

"You help me be a little bit less scared of philosophy and feel more ok with not knowing most things. I also love the effort you put in your videos. I simply had to subscribe as soon as I could.”
